WE MAKE NATURAL WINES

Reseal an open bottle and refrigerate it, including most reds. Cold slows the changes caused by oxygen, but how long a wine stays enjoyable varies by bottle.

Reduce heat and air exposure

Put the closure back on when you finish pouring instead of leaving the bottle open through the evening. Store it upright in the refrigerator to limit the exposed surface and slow change. A smaller clean container can reduce headspace if only a little wine remains. These steps help preserve character; they cannot restore freshness after a wine has already deteriorated.

Judge the next glass, not a rigid countdown

There is no single number of days that guarantees quality for every open wine. Style, age, oxygen exposure, storage temperature, and bottle condition all matter. Smell a small pour and taste it if it seems sound. Notice whether the fruit has faded or the aromas have changed in an unpleasant way. A different impression does not always mean the wine is unusable.

Ask about the bottle you are buying

At PAMEC, ask for storage guidance on your chosen wine rather than relying on a blanket rule about natural wine. When serving a refrigerated red again, let a small pour warm and compare it before warming the whole bottle. Sparkling wine needs a closure designed for pressure; an ordinary stopper is not a substitute for a proper sparkling-wine stopper.

A question worth asking

Does putting red wine in the fridge ruin it?

Refrigeration is generally useful for an opened red bottle. Let the next pour warm toward your preferred serving temperature; avoid repeatedly heating or exposing the bottle to sunlight.
