WE MAKE NATURAL WINES

The right way to spend a Saturday in Old Town Temecula is the lazy version. Big breakfast at Swing Inn Cafe to start. A slow walk through the historic district. Antique shops, the farmers market if it is before noon, and a glass of natural wine on the PAMEC patio in the afternoon.

This is the local-vendor version of how to do it. We pour wine on Front Street four days a week and we eat at Swing Inn often. Both spots are walking distance, both are independently owned, and together they make the easiest, most satisfying Saturday Old Town has on offer.

Start at Swing Inn Cafe (8 to 10 AM)

Swing Inn Cafe has been on Front Street since 1927. It is one of the oldest continuously operating restaurants in Riverside County and a Temecula institution. The kind of place where you can hear three generations of the same family at the next table.

The breakfast menu is the move. Hearty, generous, no fuss. The biscuits and gravy and the chicken-fried steak are what locals order. They also have Texas-style craft BBQ smoked on site if you are doing this as a late lunch instead — but for the full Saturday, breakfast is the play.

Coffee until you are ready. Then walk it off.

Walk Old Town (10 AM to 12 PM)

Old Town is a six-block stretch of restored 1880s storefronts and wood-plank sidewalks. From Swing Inn, walk south on Front Street. Pass the antique shops, the boutiques, the candy store, and the wooden water tower at the south end.

If it is Saturday morning before 12:30 PM, the Old Town Temecula Farmers Market is running on Sixth and Front. About 100 vendors, year-round, and we are usually pouring wine at our table. Even if you are not buying produce, walking through is the best way to see Old Town when it is fully alive. Full guide to the farmers market here.

Other stops worth your time on the walk:

Wine at the PAMEC Patio (12 PM onward)

By noon you are warmed up, fed, and ready to slow down. The PAMEC Patio opens at 12 PM on Saturdays. We are at 28522 Old Town Front Street, Suite 3 — about a four-minute walk from Swing Inn, on the same street.

The patio is a small open-air courtyard with string lights, fire pits, and a stone fireplace. We pour natural wines made by us in Temecula Valley using wild yeast and minimal intervention. PAMEC is the only natural-wine producer in the region, and the patio is the only dedicated outdoor wine bar in Old Town.

Order a tasting flight ($25) if it is your first visit. Three pours, twenty minutes, and you will know whether the natural-wine style is for you. If you already drink natural, ask for the Pét Nat or the Amber Vermentino.

Walk in, no reservation needed. Dog-friendly. Open until 8 PM Saturday and Sunday. Directions and hours here.

The full Saturday plan

  1. 8:30 AM — breakfast at Swing Inn Cafe (28676 Old Town Front St)
  2. 10:00 AM — walk south on Front Street, hit the farmers market on Sixth
  3. 11:00 AM — antique shops, museum, browse the bookery
  4. 12:00 PM — wine flight at the PAMEC Patio (28522 Old Town Front St, Suite 3)
  5. 2:00 PM — light bites on the patio, second glass, stay through the afternoon
  6. 4:00 PM — wander back through Old Town as the string lights start to come on

You parked once. You walked everywhere. You started with a Texas-style breakfast at the oldest cafe in Temecula and ended with a glass of natural wine on a patio with fire pits. That is a Saturday.
